Never too late – Emma starts photography business in her 60s

After 20 years working in the pensions industry, Emma Petruzzelli is finally pursuing her dream of becoming a professional photographer.

Showing it’s never too late to chase a goal, Emma enrolled in university aged 58 and obtained a First Class Degree in BA (Hons) Photography at 62. Her talent is evident, with her work being displayed in the Dali International Photography Exhibition (known as the ‘World Expo’) in China.

Emma met PRIME Cymru’s Caroline Allen at a jobs fair in Colwyn Bay, where she was looking for support to get her business up and running. Caroline has helped her with applications for grants, which she has found to be “very helpful”.

Emma said: “After 20 years in pensions I was made redundant and following complications from major surgery, I made the decision to do something I can enjoy.

“I’m very grateful for Caroline’s support. She has been very helpful with helping me to secure funding.”

Bursting with ideas, Emma is currently working on an exciting project around the myths and legends of Wales. You can see more of her work on Instagram @emmajp_photography or at https://www.behance.net/emmapetruzzelli
